The Pinzolo-Madonna di Campiglio gondola is one of the most significant infrastructure investments in recent years in the Trentino ski landscape, creating a direct connection between the Rendena valley floor and one of Italy’s most prestigious ski resorts. Installed by Doppelmayr in 2016, it rises from Pinzolo at 770 metres to Madonna di Campiglio at 1,520 metres, covering a vertical gain of 750 metres through the forests of the Brenta Dolomites in a gondola journey of outstanding scenic quality.

Madonna di Campiglio is the flagship resort of Trentino skiing: elegant, internationally recognised, with a tradition of high-level skiing that dates to the late nineteenth century when it first became a destination for Austrian and Italian aristocracy. Today it forms the heart of the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta domain, one of Trentino’s largest and most varied ski areas, spanning from the rocky Dolomites of the Brenta group to the gentler snowfields of the Adamello massif.

The gondola serves a dual purpose: as the main access link from Pinzolo and the lower Rendena valley to Madonna di Campiglio’s ski area, and as a connector allowing skiers from Campiglio to extend their day onto the Pinzolo slopes and vice versa. The wide, modern cabins offer excellent views over the forest below and the Brenta Dolomites above throughout the journey.

Madonna di Campiglio itself has the character of a refined mountain resort rather than a simple ski village: its pedestrian centre, quality hotels, good restaurants and traditional architecture combine to create an ambiance that appeals to visitors seeking skiing with genuine Alpine elegance. The annual Coppa del Mondo di Slalom — the men’s slalom World Cup held each December on the 3-Tre course — transforms the resort into an international ski racing showcase.
