Where to stay in Cortina d’Ampezzo during the Olympics
Cortina is the most glamorous venue of the 2026 Olympics and also the hardest place to find a room. Hotels in the centre of Cortina sold out 6-12 months in advance, and prices for the Olympic weeks reached 3-5 times the normal high-season rates.
How to find somewhere to stay near Cortina:
- Look in the surrounding valleys: the Cadore valleys, Falcade, Alleghe (30-50 km)
- Search private rentals on Airbnb and local websites

Where to stay in Bormio for the downhill races
Bormio hosts the men’s downhill on the legendary Stelvio run (7-11 February). The races are concentrated in the first week of the Olympics, so availability is less critical than in Cortina.

Where to stay in Livigno for freestyle and snowboard
Livigno hosts the freestyle and snowboard events in the Mottolino ski area (8-19 February). As a smaller venue than Cortina and Bormio, it has more rooms left, especially in the outlying hamlets.

Anterselva (Antholz): Olympic biathlon
Anterselva hosts the Olympic biathlon (13-21 February). It sits in a side valley of South Tyrol (Alto Adige) at 1,636 m. The village has about 500 inhabitants and very few beds.

- Brunico/Bruneck (25 km): the main town in the area, with plenty of hotels
- San Candido/Innichen (30 km): a ski resort with a good choice of accommodation

Milan and Verona: the city venues
Milan hosts the ice hockey (PalaItalia Santa Giulia) and speed skating (PalaVela). Verona hosts the opening ceremony in the Arena. These city venues have far more accommodation than the mountain venues.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay a few days or weeks before the Games:
- Cancellations: check booking sites and hotels’ own websites often, as last-minute cancellations are common
- Private rentals: Airbnb, Vrbo and local websites often have availability that hotel booking sites do not show
- Alternative bases: moving 40-60 km away from the main venues greatly increases your options

How do you get around between the Olympic venues?
The 2026 Olympics have a dedicated transport system: official shuttles between venues, extra train services and shuttle buses from park-and-ride car parks.
