Aiguille du Midi: summer 2026 hours and prices

Official timings, ticket prices and live notes for planning a Chamonix visit to the Aiguille du Midi without surprises.

If you are planning an Aiguille du Midi ride at the start of summer, the safest rule is simple: do not rely on the calendar alone, and always check the live status the day before. The official Mont-Blanc Natural Resort page lists the site in the annual opening table with a window from 20 December 2025 to 31 May 2026; the live alert, on the other hand, says the summit area remains open, while the Chamonix terrace (Piton Nord) is closed from 25 May for an estimated 4-5 weeks of work.

Hours: what the official table says

The annual opening table is the first reference worth checking because it summarises the operating status of the resort and its areas. For Aiguille du Midi, the published data is straightforward: the listed window runs from 20 December 2025 to 31 May 2026. That should not be read as a blanket “everything is open” or “everything is closed” message. At altitude, some areas can remain accessible while others are temporarily under maintenance.

So if you are planning a trip close to summer, treat the timetable as a starting point rather than the final update.

Prices: the ticket to keep in mind

On the ticketing side, the official site shows the Round-trip + réservation ticket for Chamonix > Aiguille du Midi at 60.20€ to 83.00€. That is the most useful range if you want a quick read on whether the ascent fits a premium day-trip budget.

If you are building a longer weekend or want to combine multiple lifts in the Mont Blanc area, it is also worth comparing broader passes. But for a single visit, this is the number that matters most.

High-altitude work: the final check before you go

The 2026 live notice highlights something important: the Chamonix terrace above the 3842 restaurant is closed from 25 May for an estimated 4-5 weeks for waterproofing work and new decking. The site also says that the other areas, the restaurants and the entire Aiguille du Midi summit visit remain open as usual.

In practical terms: before you leave, always check the live panel, especially if you are planning a half-day outing or have a tight return schedule.

How to plan the visit well

To make the most of the day, the best mix is still:

  • check the weather and wind at altitude;
  • review live webcams and alerts;
  • book ahead if you are travelling at the weekend;
  • aim for the morning slot if possible;
  • keep some flexibility in your plan, because mountain conditions can change quickly.
