New lifts 2026/27: what changes in Courmayeur and Kronplatz

New lifts at Courmayeur and Kronplatz for winter 2026/27: what changes for visitors, and how to tell announced works from actual openings.

A new lift can change where it makes sense to start your day, how the mountain links up and where you should stay. When you plan a trip, though, you need to tell a project announcement apart from a service you can actually use.

This update of 13 September 2026 covers two programmes documented by the lift operators: Courmayeur and Kronplatz (Plan de Corones). It is not a list of every lift project in Italy. We focused on what an official source lets us explain to visitors, without turning an expected opening into a guaranteed one.

Courmayeur: Checrouit and Maison Vieille

The Courmayeur lift company confirms work on the Checrouit and Maison Vieille gondolas ahead of winter 2026/27. The same page describes a summer offer adapted to the building work: a good reason not to assume last season’s routes and connections still apply.

Before you choose where to stay, work out which base station you will use and check the winter lift network once it is running. The work on the ski area tells you nothing about Skyway: check the two services separately. The Courmayeur page gives an overview of the lift network, while the Skyway guide covers the panoramic ride up Mont Blanc.

Kronplatz: rebuilt lifts and a new chairlift

The official Kronplatz programme for 2026/27 lists the renewal of the Kronplatz 1+2 and Ruis lifts and the new Dolomiti chairlift. For visitors, the useful question is how these works change access points and routes, not just how many people a cabin holds.

Before you buy, compare the updated winter map with your ability and your starting point. A new connection does not mean every slope and lift opens on the same day. Use our Kronplatz page to get your bearings and the operator’s website for what is actually running.

Three kinds of information to keep apart

StatusWhat it tells you
Announced projectA plan exists, not a usable service
Documented worksA source describes or shows the work, but nobody has confirmed it is running
Opening announced by the operatorThere is a stated date: check it again against the operator’s service notices

Before you book a holiday

Check which base station you can reach from your accommodation, whether you will need a bus or the car, and whether your ticket covers the lifts you want. If you book early, read what happens if the planned service is not available. The building of a new gondola does not, on its own, give you a right to a refund on your hotel or travel.

For your budget, see our guide to buying a 2026/27 ski pass. For a visit before winter, use the autumn opening calendar.

Method and images

The sources are linked in the text and were read on 13 September 2026. Our editors did not visit the sites. The cover is an archive photo of Kronplatz, not a picture of the new works. The verification date will change only after we check the information again.
