In September the mountains are still well worth a trip, but lift timetables change from valley to valley, and even between two sections of the same journey up. Before you choose a hotel or a route, check your visit date and the whole journey up to the top station.

This guide covers 11 lift itineraries in 10 destinations, with sources checked on 13 September 2026. The calendar covers September, October and November: it does not describe the whole summer season and it is not a live status report. Use it to plan your choice; the operator remains the source to check before you set off.

How to choose a destination for your weekend

Start with the date, then check each section of the journey. When you select a Saturday in the calendar, openings scheduled only for weekends appear too. We do not automatically extend a weekend opening to the following Monday. Missing dates mean our information stops there, not that the whole destination is confirmed closed.

For a day trip, factor in the journey too: reaching the car park at 14:00 can leave very little time at the top. If you are staying overnight, check where your accommodation is in relation to the actual valley station, not just the name of the village.

September: check the end-of-summer closures

Livigno does not have a single timetable for all its lifts. In the same way, finding a Pinzolo ski area page is not enough to conclude that every section runs in October. The calendar above names the service each date refers to.

For more on each lift network, see the Livigno and Pinzolo pages. Before planning a traverse, check every connection separately, as well as how you will get back.

For Val di Fiemme (Cermis, Latemar, Obereggen), Madonna di Campiglio, Marmolada, Sass Pordoi and Cortina, the end-of-summer dates are listed in summer 2026 lift closing dates.

October and November: choose a complete route

A lift lower down the valley can have a longer season than the one that continues to the summit. That is why we list Andalo - Doss Pelà separately from the onward section. The same caution applies to cable cars, chairlifts and mountain huts elsewhere. A ticket that gets you up the mountain does not confirm that the restaurant is open or that the trail is passable.

For Courmayeur, read the Skyway visit and ticket guide: Skyway and the ski-area lifts are different services. For Cortina, the lifts page helps you find your way between the different departure points.

Five checks before booking

  1. Date and last ride down: the closing time on the website is not necessarily the last departure you can use.
  2. Ticket: check whether it covers every section, the return trip and any supplements.
  3. Getting there: check parking or public transport, and the time needed to reach the ticket office.
  4. Your own needs: dogs, pushchairs, bikes or accessibility needs all require specific confirmation; we do not infer them from the type of cabin.
  5. Plan B: check the weather and operator notices, as well as the terms for changing or refunding your ticket.

Sources and method

Every row in the calendar links to the official source we used. We do not derive operating dates from OpenStreetMap, nor from the mere validity of a pass. When a source gives a period, we show it as scheduled; we do not turn it into a guarantee. The cover is an archive photograph of Val Gardena, not a webcam or a current-conditions image.

You can report a change: tell us the lift, the date and a link to the new official notice. For next season, see also how to decide when to buy your 2026/27 ski pass.
