Before you book Skyway, decide exactly where you want to go: up to Pavillon, all the way to Punta Helbronner, or on across the glaciers towards the Aiguille du Midi? These are different trips. The words ‘Mont Blanc’ in a ticket name are not enough to compare two offers.
Which route are you buying?
| Destination | What to check on the ticket |
|---|---|
| Pavillon | That the return to the valley station is included |
| Punta Helbronner | That the fare covers the full ascent and the return, not just the lower section |
| Panoramic Mont Blanc | An extra section towards the Aiguille du Midi, with its own timetable and conditions |
Do not confuse Skyway with the lifts of the Courmayeur ski area. An offer starting from Chamonix may also describe a different journey from one that starts on the Italian side. Before you pay, check the meeting point and every section named in the offer.
Autumn times: plan your way back down
The official Skyway timetable, checked on 13 September, gives the first departure at 08:30 and the last descent at 15:30 from 14 September to 15 November 2026, extended to 16:30 at weekends. Do not treat the last descent as the time to reach the ticket office: the last useful departure for a return trip is earlier.
The operator asks visitors to arrive 15 minutes before their booked time. Also check whether there is a time limit at Punta Helbronner: you will not necessarily be able to stay up there all day. For November and December, check the timetable again before you book a stay.
Panoramic Mont Blanc is not automatically included
The Panoramic Mont Blanc timetable lists departures from the Aiguille du Midi from 09:00 for 14-27 September 2026. That applies to this section and this direction only, not to Skyway as a whole. Check the weather and the service separately for the two networks.
A ticket for the Italian ascent only is not the same as the crossing into France. If you want to do both, confirm the connections, the return and the conditions before you buy.
Official price and partner price
Compare the same day, the same passenger category and the same route. Check whether the price is per person, whether supplements are included and whether you can change your booked time.
A ‘from’ price is not a guaranteed price for your group. If you are travelling with children or have accessibility needs, check the operator’s rules before you choose a fare.
Planning the day
Book your ascent with enough margin to reach the valley station. Allow separate time for the viewing terraces, a stop at Pavillon and the way down. Check the mountain forecast and the service notices: a clear day in the village does not necessarily mean good visibility at the top.
When choosing where to stay, compare its location with the starting point of your route. Our Courmayeur accommodation guide has a first set of tips, and the Courmayeur lifts page shows the lift network.
Checks and photo
This guide is based on published sources, not on a visit. The operating information comes from the operator’s pages linked above, checked on 13 September 2026. The photo of the Mont Blanc massif is an archive image and does not show current conditions. To compare other destinations, see the autumn calendar.
