Overall picture
The 2025/26 season got off to a mixed start. After a December with below-average snow lower down, January brought heavier snowfall and built up a solid snowpack above 1,800 metres. February is confirming the positive trend, with snowfall at altitude.

Western Alps (Piedmont, Aosta Valley)

Weather models point to the following for the second half of February:
- Western Alps: possible fresh snowfall, with the snow line dropping
- Dolomites: settled, cold weather, ideal for preserving the snowpack
- Apennines: changeable, with possible snowfall above 1,500 m

- Look at alternatives: consider lesser-known resorts with excellent snow, such as Pejo, Solda or Racines-Giovo

How to read a snow report
- Snow depth: the depth of the snowpack in centimetres. Above 50 cm conditions are generally good
- Fresh snow: snow that fell in the last 24-72 hours. Key for off-piste
- Slope conditions: excellent (freshly groomed), very good (well maintained), good (adequate), fair (borderline)
- Avalanche danger: a scale from 1 (low) to 5 (very high). If you ski off-piste, always check aineva.it
